Condos and Townhomes in Deptford Township
Deptford has the deepest attached market in Gloucester County, and it is not close. In a township that turns over more homes than any other out here, roughly a quarter of the action is condos and townhomes — and the split inside that runs about two to one toward condominiums. That matters, because a condo and a townhome are different purchases: different financing, different fee structures, different resale. Anyone working through Deptford Township homes for sale should know which one they are actually looking at before they get attached to a floor plan.
There is a search problem here that costs buyers real inventory, and it is worth saying up front. Deptford homes mail under six other town names — Woodbury, Wenonah, Westville, Sewell, West Deptford and Mantua — across five ZIP codes. Two attached communities on opposite ends of the township can carry two completely different addresses while sitting in the same school district and paying the same tax rate. A buyer searching one postal name is seeing a slice. This page is the whole thing.
Rittenhouse is the largest attached community in the township and the top of this market. It runs across Chancellor Drive, Beacon Drive, Pennsbury Lane, Rittenhouse Drive, Braddock Lane, Cypress Court and Winterberry Way, and the product is substantial — three- and four-bedroom rows and end units with garages and basements, and the largest homes here rival a detached house for square footage. Interior rows and end-of-row units both trade regularly. An end unit means one shared wall instead of two and usually noticeably more natural light, so it is worth asking which you are being shown.
Steeplechase is the busiest condominium community and the most liquid attached inventory in Deptford. Everything sits off Steeplechase Court, and the mix is broad for a single community — flats, interior rows and end units, mostly two-bedroom with some three. Because it is genuinely a condominium rather than a fee-simple townhome, the monthly fee does more work here, and that is the right question to ask: what does it cover, and what does it not. Steeplechase turns over often enough that you are rarely waiting long for the layout you want.
Knightsbridge, along Winding Way with Westville addresses, is the most affordable way into Deptford Township outright. These are one- and two-bedroom condominium units, compact, with flats and interior rows, and they trade at a level almost nothing else in Gloucester County can match. For a first-time buyer or an investor, this is the entry point to the entire township — same schools, same tax rate, same highway access as the rest of Deptford, at the bottom of the price ladder. It is also the community where reading the association's finances matters most.
Villages at Washington Square is the largest townhome group, spread across Dogwood Drive, Boxwood Lane, Winterberry Way, Ironwood Drive and Sweetgum Lane. Three-bedroom interior and end rows with garages, and a size range that puts it firmly in family-townhome territory rather than starter territory. One quirk worth knowing: the MLS carries this community under a truncated, run-together subdivision name and occasionally under a stray label as well, which is exactly how a listing goes invisible on a portal search. We watch for both.
Washington Crossing sits alongside it on Liberty Way, Carriage Way and Yorktown Court — three-bedroom rows with garages and basements, a step down in size from Washington Square and a step up from Steeplechase, which puts it in a useful middle that a lot of buyers land in without meaning to. Quail Glen and Liberty Place are the small ones on this side of the township; both are worth a standing alert rather than a weekly check, because they produce very few sales a year.
Georgetown Mews and Bankbridge are the Wenonah-addressed pair, and they are the ones buyers most often miss because the mailing name reads like a different town. Georgetown Mews, on Buddy Powell Lane and Georgetown Road, is three-bedroom rows with garages at a size that competes with Washington Square. Bankbridge, across Woodvale Lane, Fernshire, Burgundy Court and Weybridge Court, is twin and semi-detached — one shared wall, your own lot, your own driveway — which for someone leaving a full house is usually the softest landing in the attached market. Narraticon, off Buckthorn and Laurel Courts, adds newer attached product on the township's northern side.
Two things make all of this work the same way regardless of which community you choose. Schools are self-contained: Deptford Township Public Schools runs the district end to end, through Monongahela Middle School to Deptford Township High School, with no regional district and no shared high school — unusual in this corner of the county, and something an address line will never tell you. And the location is the reason Deptford is the county's commercial center in the first place: the Deptford Mall and the Almonesson Road corridor are minutes away, with Route 42, Route 55 and Route 295 meeting here and the Philadelphia bridges a short run north.
If attached living turns out not to be the fit, the natural next searches are Deptford's single-story ranch homes, which is where the no-stairs option lives without an association, and its 55+ communities — the township has three, which is more than any other town in this part of the county. There is also steady new construction on infill lots scattered through established neighborhoods, and the entry end of the detached market shows up in homes under $300K. To see what has actually been trading rather than what is asking, start with recent Deptford closings and the township market report, or watch what's just listed.
