Avandale was built in the mid-1980s in the Sicklerville section of Winslow Township, and it is one of the most reliable entry points into this end of the township. Three bedrooms is the standard here, typically with a full bath and a half, in a community where homes come up often enough that you can actually shop rather than wait.

The part most listings never make clear: Avandale is not all attached housing. Twins, interior-row and end-of-row homes make up the bulk of it, but there is a real sprinkling of detached single-family houses inside the same community, on the same streets — not next door, not in the development across the road. If you have been filtering Winslow for detached homes and skipping the townhome communities, you have been skipping these. End units and detached homes carry more yard and more light and price accordingly, so “an Avandale home” can mean several different things, which is why the grid above beats a portal’s one-word label. A quirk you will notice driving it: every street here starts with H — Hewitt, Hyacinth, Hathaway, Harrington, Heywood, Hopewell, Hampton.

Avandale sits directly beside Avandale West, and the two get confused constantly — same name, same era, different housing. West is detached colonials with garages throughout and prices above Avandale for it, so if your search was for a single-family house with its own yard, that is the one you meant. Worth walking both before you decide. For a first purchase, or for anyone who wants to be in Winslow Township without taking on an acre of lawn, Avandale is one of the most affordable ways in.
