Late-sixties colonials and split levels on college-named streets off Kings Highway — live from the MLS.
Brandywoods is a detached neighborhood in the 08034 section of Cherry Hill Township, laid out between Kings Highway North and Church Road. The streets are Bucknell Drive, North and South Syracuse Drive, Clemson Road, Dartmouth Road, Colgate Drive and Rutgers Road — every one of them named for a college, which tells you roughly when it was drawn and who was expected to move in. No association, no gate, houses on their own lots.
The fact worth knowing before you tour is the school line. Brandywoods is split between Cherry Hill High School East and Cherry Hill High School West, and the division does not respect the neighborhood's edges — it runs between houses. Clemson Road has addresses assigned to each. In a township where families pick the high school first and the house second, that makes two otherwise comparable houses on the same road genuinely different purchases. Get the assignment for the specific address before you get attached to a floor plan, because the neighborhood name will not answer it.
The housing is tight and consistent in a way buyers appreciate. Brandywoods went up between 1965 and 1971 — six years, start to finish — and Colonial is the dominant form, with Split Level, Bi-Level and Contemporary filling out the rest. Four bedrooms is the standard here, not the upgrade, with two-and-a-half baths the common configuration and three in some plans. Basements run under essentially every house, garages are typical, and the lot sizes are the generous quarter-plus that sixties layouts delivered before density became the priority. The streets curve and loop rather than gridding, which keeps through-traffic out.
Sixty years of growth is the other half of what you are buying. The canopy here is mature, the plantings are established, and the wooded edges along the eastern and southern boundaries are the kind of thing that cannot be added to a new subdivision. A number of the deeper rear yards have picked up in-ground pools over the decades.
Brandywoods trades steadily — there is usually something moving here, which is not true of every neighborhood this size in the township. Buyers working this tier in 08034 generally also walk Barclay and Downs Farms before deciding. And if the detached number does not work, Kings Croft sits immediately north across Church Road — attached product, same corner of the township, same schools question worth asking.
Schools are Cherry Hill Township Public Schools for elementary and middle, then East or West depending on the address. Kings Highway runs into Haddonfield to the west and Church Road connects east toward the township center, with Route 70 and I-295 both a few minutes out. The recently sold homes across Cherry Hill are the clearest read on where this tier actually settles.
Bucknell. Clemson. Syracuse.
Every street a college.
