Four-bedroom splits and ranches off Haddonfield-Berlin Road — live from the MLS.
Haddontowne fills a large block of the 08034 section of Cherry Hill Township, east of Haddonfield-Berlin Road. The streets are Haral Place, Mansfield Boulevard North and South, Philellena Road, Roumfort Avenue, Mount Pleasant Way, Robwill Pass, Portsmouth Road, Provincetown Road, Plymouth Drive, Salem Road, Lowber Drive and Chandler Terrace. No association, no gate.
The housing is late-fifties and early-sixties, and it is consistent in the way that makes a neighborhood easy to shop. Haddontowne went up between 1958 and 1962, the split level is the dominant form — straight splits and contemporary splits — with ranch and rambler plans, bi-levels and colonials filling out the rest. Four bedrooms is the norm rather than the upgrade, running to five in the larger houses, with two-and-a-half baths the common configuration. Basements and garages on essentially every house in this pull, which is not something you can assume in this township at this vintage.
Then the street signs, which are a mixed bag with a clear theme running through them. Plymouth, Salem, Portsmouth and Provincetown are all colonial New England ports, laid down here together in 1958 — while Philellena and Roumfort are borrowed straight off the Germantown street map in Philadelphia, which is where a fair share of these original buyers came from. Two sources, one grid. Cherry Hill has neighborhoods themed on apple varieties, racetracks, Florida cities and Main Line stations; this one split the difference between the Mayflower and the old neighborhood back across the river.
One thing to know before you tour, because it varies house to house and nobody puts it in a listing. I-295 runs along the eastern edge of this neighborhood. The practical upside is real — the interchange is a couple of minutes away, and this is about as direct as highway access gets in Cherry Hill. The tradeoff is that the lots at the far end of Haral Place and Mount Pleasant Way back onto it, and you will hear it on those streets in a way you will not two blocks west. Neither is a problem; they are just different purchases at different prices, and worth checking with your own ears rather than on a map.
Haddontowne moves. There are usually several houses under contract here at once, which for a neighborhood this size means well-priced stock does not sit — and it also means the recent sales list can include the same address twice in a year, so read it carefully. Buyers shopping this vintage in 08034 generally also walk Barclay and Brookfield before deciding, with Uxbridge across Haddonfield-Berlin Road if attached product is worth a look.
Schools are Cherry Hill Township Public Schools. Haddonfield-Berlin Road runs north to Route 70 and the retail corridor and south toward Voorhees, with downtown Haddonfield and its PATCO station a short drive west. The recently sold homes across the township are the clearest read on where this tier actually settles.
