Large custom houses on wooded lots off Springdale Road in Cherry Hill's 08003 — live from the MLS.
Wilderness Acres sits in the 08003 section of Cherry Hill Township, east of Springdale Road and south of Kresson. The streets are Wilderness Drive, Manning Lane and Southwood Drive, on a loose, curving layout with heavy tree cover and no through traffic. Lots here are large and irregular rather than gridded, and the canopy is mature enough that most of the houses are barely visible from the street. It reads as a wooded pocket that houses were fitted into, not a parcel that was cleared and subdivided.
One naming point to get right before you search: the MLS carries this neighborhood under two different subdivision strings, Wilderness Acres and Wilderness Run. Same pocket, same streets, same product — the entry just varies by listing. A search keyed to only one of them will show you roughly half of what is actually available here, which is a real problem in a neighborhood where a handful of houses trade in a given year. Both strings are covered on this page.
What defines this pocket is scale and individuality. These are large detached custom houses, and the recent record runs well past four thousand square feet with four and five bedrooms and bath counts to match — the kind of house that is rare anywhere in Cherry Hill and concentrated in only a few pockets of it. Style varies house to house because the houses were built as one-offs across different years: mid-century modern and contemporary both turn up, on a build era running from the mid-seventies into the late eighties. Unlike most of the township, there is no repeated plan here. Walking one house tells you very little about the next one.
These are detached and fee simple, on their own lots, with no association fee and no architectural committee — which fits the character of the place, since the houses do not conform to each other in the first place. Pools are common on lots this size, and the township's pool home searches are the quickest way to see which ones are listed. Buyers shopping at this level generally also look at the township's larger-acreage homes and at Volken Tract, the other pocket of big custom houses on the eastern side of 08003.
Schools are Cherry Hill Township Public Schools. Worth knowing on this particular pocket: the Cherry Hill High School West campus — the building, the track and the athletic fields — sits immediately northeast of these streets, close enough to walk. That proximity is a genuine amenity if you have kids in the district, but it is geography rather than a school assignment, and Cherry Hill's attendance boundaries do not always follow what is nearest. Confirm the assignment on the specific address before you assume it. Country Walk sits just east past the school grounds. Springdale and Kresson Roads give quick access west toward the center of the township and east toward Route 73 and Marlton. The recently sold homes across Cherry Hill are the clearest read on where the top of this market actually settles.
