The Wildwoods sit on Five Mile Beach near the southern end of the Jersey Shore, a cluster of barrier-island communities known for wide free beaches, a two-mile boardwalk, and the largest concentration of mid-century "Doo Wop" motels anywhere in the country. Three oceanfront boroughs run north to south — North Wildwood, Wildwood, and Wildwood Crest — while West Wildwood, a small back-bay borough, tucks in behind them on the bay side. Together they form one of the most active resort real estate markets on the coast.
The market here is heavily condo-driven, from oceanfront high-rises and boardwalk-block towers to smaller bayside buildings, alongside single-family shore homes, new construction, and elevated rebuilds. Each borough has its own character: North Wildwood leans toward its named condo buildings and a walkable north end, Wildwood is the boardwalk and entertainment core, the Crest runs quieter and more residential toward the point, and West Wildwood is a tight boating community of lagoon-side and bayfront homes. One note for anyone searching the south end: Diamond Beach runs right up against Wildwood Crest at the bottom of Five Mile Beach — the sand never breaks, and you can drive straight from one into the other. But Diamond Beach isn't part of the Crest, or of the Wildwoods at all; it's a community of Lower Township, with its own listings and its own municipal identity.
