Blue Anchor Homes for Sale
A rural Pinelands community in Winslow Township — explore the latest from the MLS.
Living in Blue Anchor
Blue Anchor is an unincorporated community in Winslow Township, out along Central Avenue on the rural eastern side of the township. Like the other named places out here, it is not a development — there is no builder, no entrance, no association. Houses sit on their own land along Central Avenue, Cedar Street and a scattering of lanes off them.
This is Pinelands country, and it feels like it. Woods rather than street lights, wells and septic systems rather than public water and sewer, and lots measured in acres instead of feet — roughly a half acre at the small end and an acre and a half at the larger. People come out here for room and quiet and to be left alone, and they get all three. One thing worth settling early: the mail reads Hammonton 08037, which is Atlantic County, but the ground is Winslow Township, Camden County. Township taxes, township services, and Winslow Township Public Schools — not Hammonton’s.
The housing stock is genuinely mixed, which is what happens when a place accumulates over a century instead of going up in one phase. There are 1920s farmhouses, postwar ranches and capes, and homes built as recently as the 2000s, sitting side by side on the same road. If land is the point, the township’s acre-plus listings and its ranch homes draw heavily from this end of Winslow, and neighboring Ancora and Elm share the same rural character and the same Hammonton postmark.
