Bordentown Township wraps around the historic city that shares its name, and the two could not be less alike as places to buy. Where the city is a walkable grid of twins and rowhomes on tight lots, the township is subdivision country — two dozen named communities spread across the northern corner of Burlington County, running from modest townhome courts to half-million-dollar colonials on cul-de-sacs. It is one of the deepest and most varied markets in this part of the county.

The range is the story. Entry into the township starts in the attached communities — Williamsburg Village, Bordenshire Crossing and Clifton Mill account for most of the townhome and condo inventory, and a good share of that trades under $400,000. From there it climbs steadily through Bossert Estates, Sylvan Glen and Georgetown Estates into the larger single-family neighborhoods — Holloway Meadows, Wellington Woods, Meadow Run and Grande at Crystal — where four and five bedroom homes are the standard rather than the exception.

The two Bordentowns confuse buyers constantly, so here is the part that actually matters. Bordentown Township and Bordentown City are separate municipalities — each with its own mayor, its own governing body and its own municipal budget and tax rate. But they share one school system. Bordentown Regional serves the township, the city and Fieldsboro Borough together, and the schools themselves sit on both sides of the line: PreK through first grade at Peter Muschal in the township, second through fifth at Clara Barton and MacFarland in the city, then Bordentown Regional Middle and Bordentown Regional High, both back in the township. A child raised on either side attends school in both. So when you are weighing a township address against a city one, you are choosing between housing stock and local government — not between school districts.

Two things here are genuinely uncommon for Burlington County. There is an active new-construction community currently selling at Reserve at Turgyan Farm, with a model home open and move-ins scheduled — most townships in this county have no new build at all, only scattered one-off houses. And Village Grande at Crosswicks Creek gives the township a real 55+ option, with a clubhouse, pool, fitness center and tennis, which keeps downsizers from having to leave the area to find one.

Addresses here confuse buyers, so it is worth knowing up front. Bordentown Township property carries four different mailing addresses — Bordentown, Trenton, Chesterfield and Fieldsboro — depending on which corner you are in. A Trenton mailing address on a Bordentown Township house is common and says nothing about the municipality, the taxes or the schools. Everything on this page is scoped to the township itself, not the postal name.

Location is what has driven the growth.
