Traditions at Laurel Oaks 55+ Homes for Sale

A gated 55+ community of detached Pulte homes off Laurel Oak Road — live from the MLS.

Living in Traditions at Laurel Oaks

Traditions at Laurel Oaks is a gated 55+ community in Voorhees Township, built by Pulte Homes in 2001 and 2002 off Laurel Oak Road and Old Egg Harbor Road. Its streets are Festival Drive, Merryton Street and Lucky Court, laid out in a loop around landscaped grounds and ponds.

The distinction that matters most, if you are weighing Voorhees's two active adult communities against each other, is this one: Traditions at Laurel Oaks is entirely detached single-family homes. Every residence stands on its own with an attached two-car garage — no shared walls anywhere in the community. Centennial Mill, the township's other gated 55+ community, mixes townhomes, twins and detached homes under one name. Both are excellent and both are gated; they simply answer different questions. For a buyer who wants low-maintenance living without giving up the freestanding house, this is the one.

The homes run from about 1,790 to nearly 2,970 square feet, in two-, three- and four-bedroom plans with two to four full baths. Ranch and rambler plans put everything on one floor; the larger models add an upstairs bonus room with a third bedroom and full bath, which works as a gym, studio, media room or a proper suite for visiting family. Throughout, the finishes are the comfortable kind: tray ceilings, wainscoting and crown molding, gas fireplaces with classic mantels, eat-in kitchens with islands and granite, butler's pantries, sunrooms and breakfast rooms flooded with windows, main-level laundry, and primary suites with tray ceilings, walk-in closets and dual-vanity baths. A number of homes carry large unfinished, waterproofed basements, which is unusual in age-restricted housing and gives real room for storage or future space.

The clubhouse is the social center: a fitness center, card room, billiards, a library, meeting and party rooms, and gathering space for community events, with a sparkling outdoor pool and scenic walking trails through the grounds. The association fee covers lawn care, snow removal and the irrigation sprinklers — that last one is a small detail that tells you how thoroughly the community is run. Between the gate, the grounds and the ponds, the setting reads as a quiet retreat while sitting minutes from everything in the township.

Location is easy from here. Routes 295, 73 and 70 and the NJ Turnpike are all convenient, Philadelphia is a short drive, and shopping, dining, entertainment and several golf courses are close by, with Virtua Voorhees nearby as well. Buyers should see both of the township's active adult options before deciding, and the full 55+ inventory across Voorhees is the widest net. For anyone also considering low-maintenance housing without an age requirement, the township's ranch homes and condos and townhomes are worth a look. The recently sold homes show where each plan here settles.

No Shared Walls.

Rare in a 55+ community.
