Hidden Lakes was built through the 1970s — most of it 1976 and 1977 — in Washington Township, on the Sewell side. The streets read like a launch manifest: Altair Drive, Apollo Avenue, Gemini Court, Hercules Court, Arcturus Drive, Orion Way, Auriga Lane, Argo Drive and Tiros Avenue. Three and four bedrooms, one to two and a half baths, on public water and public sewer.

That naming is worth a note, because Birches West across the township uses the same convention — stars and constellations end to end. Altair appears in both communities. If you are searching by street name rather than by neighborhood, you can land in entirely the wrong place: Hidden Lakes is detached single-family on Sewell addresses, Birches West is twins and row homes. Same developer's naming instinct, very different housing.

Set expectations on the product. Most homes here have neither a garage nor a basement — not one or the other, but often both missing. Among the four distinct build standards in this township, this is the leanest. Heritage Valley gives you the garage without the basement, Bells Lake the basement without the garage, and the Birches both. Hidden Lakes gives you neither on most addresses, and that is reflected in what these homes cost.

The houses are mostly ranchers — genuine one-level living — with colonials and a split level in the mix. The lots are consistent at right around a quarter acre, which makes this an easy neighborhood to compare within: same era, same ground, same scale. Condition is what separates one listing from the next.

What stands out right now is how much of this community is actually available. A meaningful share of Hidden Lakes is currently active or under contract — a far higher proportion than most neighborhoods in this township, where one listing at a time is normal. For a buyer, that means real choice inside a single neighborhood rather than taking whatever appears. For a seller, it means genuine competition on the same streets.

Schools are Washington Township for the whole township, which means Washington Township High School — one district throughout, so there is no sending-district question here. The recently sold homes across the township are the best read on where this end of the market sits.
