Living in The Ridings

The Ridings was built in 2005 and 2006 in Williamstown, Monroe Township, on Ridings Drive, Steeplechase Drive and Paddock Lane — an equestrian theme carried straight through. Four bedrooms throughout, basements and garages standard, up to four and a half baths, lots from roughly three-tenths of an acre to nearly half. Public water and sewer, with a fee covering the common areas.

This is the highest-priced community in Williamstown. Not the newest — Monroe Pointe holds that. Not the one with the most land — Hunter Woods runs to an acre in places. But the houses themselves are the largest and best-appointed in the township, and the market has consistently priced them that way.

If you are looking at this level in Williamstown, there are really only three candidates and they are genuinely different from one another. The Ridings gives you the house. Hunter Woods gives you the ground, at a 1990s vintage. Monroe Pointe gives you a house built in the last few years, on a smaller lot. Most buyers at this price walk all three before deciding which of those three things they actually want.

Practically speaking, this is a small community and listings are infrequent. A handful of homes on three streets means there is rarely more than one available at a time, and sometimes none. If the community matters more to you than the timing, it is worth knowing what tends to come up here rather than waiting to see it appear.
