Doubletree Homes and Townhomes for Sale
Townhome rows and detached homes off Charles III Drive in Glassboro. Live from the MLS.
Living in Doubletree
Doubletree sits on the northern edge of Glassboro, off Delsea Drive with Charles III Drive running through it as the spine. Persimmon and Hawthorn Streets loop off it to the west, Meghan Court and Christopher Lane branch east toward the treeline, and Katherine Court and William Dalton Drive close it off at the bottom. It backs onto orchard and open ground on one side and sits a two-minute drive from the Delsea Drive shopping corridor on the other — which is a genuinely useful combination if you want quiet without a trip for groceries.
The thing to understand before you shop it is that Doubletree is two different housing products in one community, and the name alone will not tell you which one a listing is. The townhomes went up around 1994 on Winterberry Court and Yellowwood Court — two bedrooms, a full bath up and a powder room down, roughly twelve hundred square feet, with a full basement underneath that a lot of owners have finished into a third living level. Detached homes went up a few years earlier along Meghan Court, Vermillion Lane and Christopher Lane — three and four bedrooms, two and a half baths, around twenty-three to twenty-four hundred square feet, attached garages, on their own lots.
The differences run deeper than size. The townhomes have basements and no garages, with parking in a shared lot; the detached homes have garages and driveways but no basements. And the associations are not the same. The townhome side carries a monthly association with a community pool. The detached side carries no association at all — no property manager, no recreation fee, nothing. For a 1990s planned community that is unusual, and it is the single most useful fact on this page: if you are buying one of the singles here, the pool is not yours, and neither is the monthly bill.
One more structural note for anyone financing a townhome here. The ownership and association fields on these records do not line up the way they do in most attached communities in this borough, and lenders treat those two things differently. It is worth having your lender look at the specific unit early rather than late.
Where this lands you in the borough depends which half you want. On the attached side, Doubletree sits below High Street Estates and Richwood Crossing, which bring three and four bedrooms with garages, and near Olde Orchard, which is the other Glassboro community that mixes rows with larger homes. The basement is what Doubletree has that most of them do not. On the detached side, Willow Trace and Rolling Greens are the closest comparisons in age and product.
Homes here are served by Glassboro Public Schools. Delsea Drive runs south into the Rowan Boulevard downtown and north toward Pitman and Mantua, with Route 55 a few minutes out for Philadelphia one way and the shore the other. Turnover is steady on the townhome side and thinner among the singles, so if it is a detached home you want here, an alert will serve you better than checking back. For where these have actually been landing, see recently sold homes.
