Liberty Forge was built in 1985 — all of it, in a single year — in Washington Township. The streets are Meeting House Lane, Washington Avenue and Poplar Street, carrying the same Revolutionary theme that runs through Heritage Valley nearby. Two to four bedrooms, one to two baths, on public water and public sewer.

The surprising thing about this community is how many different kinds of home are in it. Across a handful of recent sales, Liberty Forge shows twins, interior row units, end-of-row units, side-by-sides, flats — and at least one fully detached house. The styles range just as widely: colonials, a straight-thru, a Cape Cod, contemporaries. For a community that went up in one year, that is an unusual amount of variety, and it means the words "Liberty Forge" on a listing tell you very little about what you are actually looking at. Read the structure type before you read anything else.

The lots follow the same logic. They run from under a tenth of an acre to nearly a quarter — roughly triple, end to end — because a row unit and a detached house on the same street are not sitting on the same parcel. That spread drives most of the price difference within the community.

What is consistent: there are no garages and no basements here, across every recent sale. That is standard for attached product of this era in this township and it is the trade that keeps Liberty Forge among the more affordable ways into this school district — alongside Birches West, which is twins and rows on a much larger scale, and Hunt Club, the condo community built the same year.

Note that Liberty Forge carries both Blackwood and Turnersville mailing addresses, both in 08012, with the split running through the community. The municipality is Washington Township either way. Schools are Washington Township throughout — Washington Township High School, one district for the whole township, which is the real reason to buy at this end of the market.
