Fifties and sixties houses on Oak Avenue and Katherine, minutes from the Cherry Hill Mall — live from the MLS.
Surrey Place sits in the 08002 section of Cherry Hill Township, east of Cooper Landing Road between Maple Avenue and Poplar Terrace. The streets include Oak Avenue, Katherine Avenue, Snyder Court, Hedy Avenue, Gately Court, Beekman Place, Maple Avenue and Poplar Terrace. Detached houses on their own lots, fee simple with no association and no property manager — a straightforward older neighborhood with nothing between you and the deed.
The housing here runs older than most of the township. The record spans 1950 to 1964, which puts the earliest of it up before Cherry Hill was even called Cherry Hill, and the forms are the ones that era produced: Colonial, Traditional, and colonial split-foyer hybrids. Three and four bedrooms, square footage running from roughly 1,850 up past 2,350, with basements and garages standard.
One thing about the housing that the style column does not tell you. Some of these houses are genuine multi-level homes — five distinct levels on at least one address, entered in the MLS as a colonial. That is a 1957 builder stacking half-flights rather than putting up two clean floors, and it makes a real difference to how a house lives: more separation between spaces, more stairs, and a floor plan you have to walk to understand. Do not assume the layout from the style field on anything here.
What you are really buying in Surrey Place is position. The Cherry Hill Mall, the hospital and the Route 38 and Route 70 corridors are all within a couple of minutes, Cooper River Park is a short distance west, and the Philadelphia bridges are a straight run beyond it. For an older three- or four-bedroom house, the location is as central as this township gets, and the range here sits comfortably inside the township's more affordable searches at the lower end. Buyers who want the same vintage and the same convenience tour this against Locustwood and Erlton.
The school assignment is Cherry Hill High School West, which is the answer for this side of the township and worth confirming on any specific address given how often that question decides a purchase here.
Two naming cautions, both real. There is a separate Surrey Place East page and a separate MLS string for it — confirm which one a listing belongs to rather than assuming, because the names are close enough to cross. And the streets immediately east of here run into some of the most tangled naming in Cherry Hill: the presidential streets around Garfield and Wilson are contested between Cherry Valley and Columbia Lakes, and the Kennebec pocket is one of the two clusters that answer to Forest Park. An address a few streets over is not necessarily in the neighborhood you think it is.
Schools are Cherry Hill Township Public Schools. Church Road runs along the north toward the Route 38 interchange, Cooper Landing heads south past the hospital, and Haddonfield Road puts Garden State Park and its shopping district a few minutes away. The recently sold homes across the township are the clearest read on where this tier actually settles.
Five Levels.
They called it a colonial.
