Logan Township sits in the northwestern corner of Gloucester County, along the Delaware, and it is really three places under one name. Most people who live here live in Beckett — the residential heart of the township, roughly five thousand people in neighborhoods of colonials and ranches on sidewalked streets. Bridgeport is the older village on the river side, with turn-of-the-century Craftsman and Victorian houses. And then there is Pureland, one of the larger industrial parks on the East Coast, which is why a township this size has the tax base it does.

The mailing address does not tell you much here. Most of Logan carries a Swedesboro 08085 address while Bridgeport carries 08014 — and Swedesboro itself is a separate borough, as are Woolwich and South Harrison, which also use it. Four municipalities, one postal name. If you are shopping this ZIP, confirm the township before you look at a tax bill.

About a quarter of what trades here is townhome product, which surprises people. Logan Woods is the deepest and the most affordable — interior and end rows on Madison, Hancock, Adams and Hamilton, generally $230,000 to $360,000. Worth checking carefully there: some have garages and some don't, and two listings at the same price can differ on exactly that. Country Crossing on Carriage Lane and Lake Side Drive sits at the top of the attached market with garages throughout, and Quail Ridge on Lafayette Drive fills the middle.

The detached side runs from the low three-hundreds to the high six-hundreds across Fox Hound Village, High Hill Farms, Eagle Farms, Greenfields, Olde Orchard, Cambridge Knoll, Hampton Ridge, The Vineyards and Hidden Creek, which tops the township near $690,000. Lots are modest — this is a subdivision township, not farm country like South Harrison next door. And in Bridgeport there are a handful of old twins on Main Street that trade in the low two-hundreds, the most affordable housing anywhere in Logan and almost impossible to find unless you know to look for it.

Schools are a genuine draw. Logan Township School District runs PreK through eighth — Logan Elementary and Logan Middle, both small, with student-teacher ratios around ten to one — and students then go on to Kingsway Regional High School, shared with Woolwich, South Harrison, East Greenwich and Swedesboro. Logan Middle has ranked among the strongest in the county.

Route 322 and the Commodore Barry Bridge put Philadelphia and Delaware within easy reach, and 295 and the Turnpike are minutes away — the same access that built Pureland makes this an unusually short commute for the price.
